The importance of communication in the success of an eTwinning project
is immense. Careful communication planning and setting the right
expectations is crucial. This Event combines some pedagogical and
methodological principles and clues with a bunch of practical tasks
concerning the use of selected synchronous and asynchronous tools in
eTwinning. We'll try to refer to the issue that if we understand the
fact that various communication methods support different purposes, then
choosing them needs to be done with care, based on project priorities
and goals.
eTwinning and Social Media
Dates: 27 February – 8 March

Audience: The event is suitable for all eTwinning teachers who have a Twitter and Facebook account.

In this learning event we will look at the challenges and opportunities
of using social media in eTwinning. We will highlight trends and best
practices of how social media can be used in education. We will explore
the impact that social media has on pupils and teachers and learn how to
prepare pupils to stay safe online. We will focus on two different
aspects of the use of social media in education: social media for
professional development and social media in the classroom. By the end
of the event the participants will have learned how to integrate social
media and eTwinning projects in order to enhance teaching and learning.
The event is suitable for all eTwinning teachers who have a Twitter and
Facebook account. In case you don’t have an account you will be guided
through the steps on how to set up an account.
Sailing through the Twinspace
Dates: 3-14 March

The aim of this Learning Event is to introduce all the features of the
eTwinning Portal with stop-overs at each TwinSpace feature. The Event
is mainly for new eTwinners and those inactive eTwinners who have
difficulty using some aspects of eTwinning as a whole. The use of
certain 2.0 and 3.0 web tools will enable teachers to make their
projects more visible to attract their target audience.
Using Multiple intelligences in Maths
Dates: 10 – 24 March

Audience: This event is aimed at all eTwinning teachers who teach Maths or Science.
Applications open: 3rd March
Mathematics is not always a popular subject. Pupils tend to dislike it,
especially when they fail to obtain the desired academic results, and
it can cause anxiety and even phobia to some of them. The difficulties
they find are not only due to insufficient knowledge of the elements of
Maths, but also to the ability to transfer knowledge in order to face
different situations successfully. The aim of the event is to present
and share ideas, strategies, tools and teaching techniques based on
Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Theory, that would motivate and empower
pupils' involvement both in the every-day class and in project
activities, according to each learning style, while nurturing their
growing mindset, self-understanding and mutual respect. The goal is to
reach all our pupils and help them to use their full potential, by
adapting the activities to their own skills and strengths.
Quality Label Criteria: how to achieve them
Dates: 24 March – 7 April

Audience: This event is aimed at all eTwinning teachers who want to achive a quality label
Applications open: 17 March
Quality Labels are granted to teachers with excellent eTwinning
projects. In this LE, participants will have the opportunity to discuss,
explore, take part in activities and understand how they can plan and
run a project in order to achieve the 6 criteria for obtaining a Quality
Label: Pedagogical Innovation and Creativity, Curricular Integration,
Collaboration, Use of Technology, Sustainability and Transferability and
lastly Results and Benefits. It will examine the links between Quality
Labels and the European Prizes. This event is aimed at all eTwinning
teachers
How to plan a project
Dates: 14 – 25 April

Audience: All eTwinners who want to improve their project planning skills
Application opens: 7 April
Planning is very important in any kind of project. Planning increases
the efficiency of a project. It facilitates proper coordination within
partners involved.
It aids in organizing all available resources
and motivates everyone. It encourages creativity and innovation and it
also helps in decision-making. In this Learning Event we will explore
how the project planning can help to achieve these goals.
Using Google Earth in teaching
Dates: 28 April to 12 May

Audience: this event is for teachers with a minimum knowledge of how to use ICT in their teaching.
Applications open: 17 April
This eLearning event focuses on the use of Google Earth as an
educational tool. The main goal is to show how teachers can use Google
Earth as a tool to improve their methods of teaching. We will also
explore how the tool may be used by participants in an eTwinning
project, to show features of their countries to others in a different a
way.

Sometimes the work in eTwinning projects is focused mainly on the
sharing of materials. However we believe that this should not be an end
in itself, but rather an opportunity to begin to collaborate. This
learning event aims to explore some tools for sharing documents but more
especially, to work on those methods, which encourage the development
of documents collaboratively through the use of web 2.0 tools.
Education of the future: scenario building
Dates: 5 - 16 may

Audience: All eTwinning Teachers
Applications open: 24 May
Education has changed a lot in some ways over the last 20 years, but in
other ways nothing has changed. This event will explore how education
might look in the future, how we as teachers can contribute to shaping
that future, and look at the changing relationships between teachers and
learners in the future. It is suitable for all eTwinning teachers.
Apps for Mobile devices in the classroom
Dates: 9 - 23 June
Experts: Miguela Fernandes and Marco Neves
Language: English
Audience: Teachers who use tablets or other mobile devices in their classes
Applications open: 2 June
This Learning Event aims to show to teachers how they can encourage
their pupils to use mobile devices in learning. The target audience is
mainly teachers who want to explore the possibilities with the use of
mobile devices, such as smartphones. During the event we will present
mobile educational applications that pupils can use in and out of the
classroom, close the gap between the devices that pupils have and that
are not properly explore in educational contexts, promote news ways of
teaching and learning and alert teachers to integrate the use of this
devices in eTwinning projects.
